Who is this information evening suitable for?

This evening is designed for parents, carers and educators of children preparing to start Kindergarten in 2027 or 2028. It is also suitable for families whose child has recently started school and would benefit from additional information and practical school readiness strategies.

You do not need to be a current Enhanced Life family to attend. The evening is open to our wider Northern Beaches and surrounding community.

Does my child need to have developmental concerns or be receiving therapy for me to attend?

Not at all. This evening is designed for all families wanting to better understand school readiness and how they can support their child before starting school.

Whether you have specific concerns or simply want to feel more prepared for the transition to Kindergarten, the information will be relevant and practical.

What will the evening cover?

Our Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology team will explore the foundational skills children use throughout the school day, including independence, emotional regulation, sensory processing, attention, executive functioning, fine motor development, communication, language, social participation, early literacy and transitions.

We will also discuss practical strategies families and educators can begin using now to support these skills in everyday routines.

Why are Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology both involved?

School readiness involves much more than academic skills. Children need to be able to participate in routines, manage transitions, communicate their needs, understand instructions, interact with peers and gradually become more independent.

Our Occupational Therapists will explore areas such as regulation, sensory processing, fine motor skills, independence and executive functioning, while our Speech Pathologist will cover communication, language, speech, social communication and early literacy foundations. Bringing both disciplines together provides a holistic view of school readiness.

Will I receive practical strategies to use at home?

Absolutely. A key focus of the evening is helping families leave with realistic, easy-to-use strategies that can be incorporated into everyday routines before school starts.

You will also receive take-home information and resources to refer back to after the evening.

Will there be an opportunity to ask questions?

Yes. A live Q&A session is included following the presentation, giving families and educators the opportunity to ask our Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology team questions about school readiness.

While we cannot provide individual clinical assessment or personalised therapy advice within a group setting, we are happy to answer general questions and guide families towards further support where appropriate.

Is this event appropriate for children to attend?

The evening is designed for adults, allowing parents, carers and educators to fully engage in the presentation, discussion and Q&A.

Where possible, we recommend arranging care for children so you can get the most from the session.

Can educators attend?

Absolutely. Preschool educators, early childhood educators, teachers and other professionals supporting children preparing for school are very welcome to attend.

The information is designed to support consistency between home, preschool and school environments, so having educators involved can be particularly valuable.

Can the evening be claimed through the NDIS?

Private payment is available, and eligible NDIS funding may be used where the session aligns with the participant’s individual goals and funding arrangements.

Families are responsible for confirming whether the evening can be claimed under their child’s individual NDIS plan. Our administration team can provide further information if required.

Do I need to prepare anything before attending?

No preparation is required. During registration, we will ask a few short questions about what you are hoping to learn and any topics you would particularly like us to cover.

This helps our team tailor the evening to the needs and interests of the families and educators attending.
