Who is this program suitable for?

magine, Build, Belong is designed for children and teenagers across a wide range of abilities.

It is particularly supportive for participants working towards goals relating to social participation, confidence, flexible thinking, emotional regulation, communication, executive functioning, teamwork and peer connection.

We welcome children with diverse developmental profiles, including those with intellectual, physical, sensory, communication, learning or attention differences.

Participants are thoughtfully grouped according to age, goals, interests and support needs.

If you're unsure whether the program is the right fit for your child, please contact our team.

Who facilitates the program?

Imagine, Build, Belong is designed and clinically overseen by our Paediatric Occupational Therapy team.

Our Founder, Director & Senior Occupational Therapist, Danielle McFarlane, is a Certified Facilitator of LEGO® Based Therapy and has designed the program to combine LEGO® Based Therapy principles with goal-focused, real-world Occupational Therapy intervention.

Sessions may be facilitated by qualified Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants working under Occupational Therapy clinical supervision.

Do children need to be current Enhanced Life clients to join?

No. Imagine, Build, Belong is open to both existing Enhanced Life families and new families from across the Northern Beaches and surrounding areas.

All new families will need to participate in a short Pre-Program Goal Review (Telehealth) to ensure we understand your child's goals, strengths and support needs.
Existing families may also elect to complete a Pre-Program Goal Review for their child or provide this information through our online intake process.

Can my child receive 1:1 support during the program?

Yes. If your child requires additional support to participate safely and meaningfully, an Enhanced Life Support Worker may be able to attend alongside them.

Families are also welcome to arrange for their child's existing Support Worker to attend.

Please let us know during registration so we can discuss the most appropriate supports before the program begins.

How big is the group, and will children be grouped by age or ability?

Our groups are intentionally small and typically include up to 9 participants supported by 3 therapists, maintaining a minimum 1:3 ratio, as well as volunteers for additional support.

Groups are generally divided into pre/primary school and then a high school (teens) group.

Participants may also work within smaller groups or pairs depending on the activity, age, interests, goals and support needs.

Does my child need a diagnosis to attend?

No. Children do not require a diagnosis to participate. The program is suitable for children with a range of strengths, interests and support needs. Our team will discuss your child's goals and support requirements prior to the program to ensure the group is a good fit.

My child can be anxious in new groups. Will they be supported?

Absolutely. We understand that joining a new group can feel overwhelming. Our therapists provide individualised support, scaffolding and regulation strategies to help participants feel safe, comfortable and successful. Children are never forced to participate and are supported at their own pace.

The consistency of attending the same group each week also provides participants with time to become familiar with the environment, therapists, routine and peers. Building their overall confidence and engagement.

Will my child receive individual therapeutic support?

Yes. While Imagine, Build, Belong is a group-based program, our small support ratio enables therapists to provide individualised therapeutic scaffolding, coaching and support throughout each weekly session.

Our team also monitors each participant's engagement and therapeutic goals across the term so activities and support can be adjusted as the program progresses.

Can siblings or friends attend together?

Absolutely. Many children feel more confident attending with a sibling, cousin or friend, and we are more than happy to support this.

Can NDIS funding be used?

For many participants, this program may be claimed through NDIS Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living funding where appropriate.

We recommend families confirm that the program aligns with their child's goals, plan and available funding and speak with their Plan Manager, Support Coordinator or NDIS representative if unsure.

Are snacks provided?

Yes. Organic, child-friendly snacks are provided during regulation and social snack breaks. Please let us know about any allergies, dietary requirements or food preferences during registration.

What should my child bring?

Participants should bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes.

All LEGO®, therapeutic materials, resources and program equipment are provided.

What makes Imagine, Build, Belong different?

Imagine, Build, Belong is more than a LEGO® club.

It is a structured, goal-focused Occupational Therapy program designed and delivered by our Paediatric Occupational Therapy team in line with LEGO® Based Therapy principles.

Rather than simply building LEGO® together, activities are intentionally designed to create opportunities for participants to practise skills such as communication, collaboration, planning, emotional regulation, flexible thinking, problem-solving and self-advocacy.

The 10-week format also allows participants to develop relationships, practise skills repeatedly and gradually work towards more complex individual and group challenges as their confidence develops.

What is included in the program cost?

Imagine, Build, Belong is a structured 10-week Occupational Therapy group program designed and delivered by our Paediatric Occupational Therapy team.

The program cost includes:

Do we need to commit to the whole term?

Yes. Imagine, Build, Belong is designed as a 10-week therapeutic program, rather than individual casual sessions.

Activities and therapeutic goals build progressively across the term, while the consistent group also supports participants to develop familiarity, relationships, confidence and a sense of belonging.

What happens in the sessions each week?

Each session includes a combination of structured and child-led LEGO® experiences designed around the therapeutic goals of the group.

Depending on the week, participants may complete collaborative builds, team challenges, construction projects, problem-solving activities, creative builds or role-based LEGO® Based Therapy activities.

Our therapists use these experiences to create natural opportunities to practise communication, planning, teamwork, flexible thinking, regulation, leadership, problem-solving and social participation.

Activities gradually evolve across the term as the group develops confidence and skills.
